I didn't actually had a problem with Thane's death because there was some great dialogue there and some beautiful, unforgettable scenes. What annoyed me was that if Ashley or Kaidan died on the citadel (and even if they didn't) that confrontation was talked about by Garrus and Joker as well as the other crew. But nobody acknowledges Thane's death
Anyway sorry for rambling, this was cool and it made me giggle, NCE JOB!
A Lot of things in ME3 didn't make any sense to me. They could have done so much more with the Thane romance. I mean shit he had something to live for. He had his son and his siha. Isn't that enough of a reason to want to live? Not only that they did all this for shadowing on him that he would be able to beat his illness. He could have gotten a transplant and waited for the hanar to finish finding a cure for his illness that they were working on.
Yeah, I totally agree. But they said it themselves: they "dropped the ball" with Thane... that is, they forgot he existed. His original writer wasn't there anymore and they wrote little something for the character to be present in the game, not even caring about his previous history with Shepard or his son... very unprofessional imo
I agree that it is very unprofessional however, you would assume that they would have a journal with the summarization of the different characters and how they were effect with the different choices Shepard had made within the game. So none of the characters would have been forgotten. Well, that's what I would have assumed anyways.
ME! I agree 100%! Him refusing a transplant even after saving his son is just retarded, especially if you romance him and he's come out of his battle sleep. I mean seriously, aren't his SON and a SIHA enough to fucking live for?????
I totally agree with what you all are saying and y'know it kinda gets me upset that they had an option for Mordin to live (though the genophage wouldn't be cured but still) don't get me wrong I love Mordin but why couldn't they do the same for Thane?! ..oh wait cause they were a bunch of lazy ass!!! And whoever wrote Thanes part did a piss poor job! >
I know, it's true... but if you think about it Mordin's story has more to do with the war than Thane's. It's pretty obvious they didn't have much time to finish the game and they focused on the main story. That's why I have the hope that they fix all the unfinished secondary stories with DLCs (they said so)... We just have to keep complainig!
Soo true and to be honest other than the complete backtrack personality issue your femshep(if romanced thane obviously) hardly even reacts to Thane's fucking death! Its the same as if you didn't romance him which is complete bullshit! Your Shep showed more pain when Mordin died and that was still hardly anything. WTF?!
This was a strange game... I can't accept that it is a true Mass Effect 3... It does not even have the same feeling to it as in ME 2. Everything is happening so unnaturally, fake, and rushed for something... Question is for what? Couldn't take more time to put an end to the trilogy normally... It felt like they had some new project ahead, so they needed to abruptly wrap character development " ok guys, no time for this drama! Kill that, that, and that! Now let's go... Wait what? You say in the lore it is actually possible to save Thane because even Shepard was brought back from the dead? Kaidan cant suddenly become a gay? Liara is not the most important character to be the only squad member for flashback? ... *ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL* FU! I have orders from EA! Finish up you fictional SHIT! And RELEASE IT! We have some dough to make afterall...
AGREED! Thank you for this! I was so pissed when he gave that for his reason for not coming with me. Especially after him saying that he refused to die attached to a machine beeping away his life. UGH! BioWare dropped the ball on so much in ME3, but my Fan Girlness is just so pissed about how they treated the romance with Thane. Why the hell did I see Liara when I "died" and not Thane? I saw Liara...the pathetic little girl of an Asari who has driven me crazy since ME1...I think BioWare just cook-cut a lot of things and got lazy, like it would have been too much work for them to put in a picture of Thane at the end death part...or to give a descent romance scene not just making out in the waiting room...I could go on and on.
YES. This is exactly what I thought. He could've been an asset to the war effort and the construction of the crucible. They were in the middle of an intergalactic war that decided the fate of all life in the galaxy but no. NO. He doesn't want to do a thing, he'll just sit in a hospital and wait to die.
Lazy is an understatement, they practically ignored his entire character development in Mass Effect 2. ;n; When he met Shepard he felt alive again, he wanted to live, he was afraid to die. He wanted to live on for her. And in the Shadow Broker DLC it's mentioned that he was eligible for a lung transplant, which meant his disease could either be cured completely or treated so he could live much longer than a few months, so it wasn't like there was no other option. So someone please explain to me how Thane's sudden change of heart in ME3 makes any sense!? As a fan of Thane it was deeply disappointing and infuriating. His character deserved better! ;n;
Here is what irritates me most, for those that were obviously part of the cure for thane petition, they did an, meh, oh well SOL for you. Also, there was ways to cure Thane, but once again the developers just didn't seem to think it mattered. I wish there could have been a more time to date Thane.
Yeah, probably... or simply they forgot that Thane is a diferent person if you romance him than if you don't and they just didn't care to make the two pesonalities. But even if that's true I'm pretty sure that if people who didn't romance him had the chance of saving him somehow, most of them would have done it He would have wanted to survive at least to help the galaxy, I never pictured him giving up so easily
Exactly. I've always felt him in ME3 is a complete step backwards in personality; like he's withdrawn into himself again.
Bioware have admitted that they 'dropped the ball' on Thane - basically, they pretty much forgot he was a romance option at all. Literally the only differenced between a romanced and non-romanced Thane is that a Shep in a relationship with him will kiss him.... the dialogue otherwise is all the same.
Bioware also say they always intended to kill Thane off in ME3 - so why drop all the hints about cures and treatments and transplants? Why purposefully create a character to be an interesting LI if you fully intend to kill him off? And lets face it, in this 'verse they have brought a person back from the dead. It's SciFi. If they'd wanted to they could very easily have written in a cure or even that lung transplant that would have let him live for longer.
Yep, I totally agree. I compare what they did to Thane with what they did with Liara in ME2, and they fixed it with LOTSB. And the fact that they admitted that they 'dropped the ball' gives me hope that they may actually fix this too. I'd love a cure for Thane but man, I'd be damned happy if only they gave him a realistic personality, enough gameplay and a fair romance, even if he ends up dying anyway
Yes! I'm not asking for a happy ending - but he just doesn't seem like the same character as in ME2. I'd love to see a fix on his romance much like LotSB did for Liara. Hell, it's not like they had to put him on the Normandy; he's on the Citadel, Shep could easily have visited him.
And I'll be honest, I'm kind of bitter that dudeshep gets to carry on with all his ME2 romances, even if two of them are long distance, but Femshep only gets to carry on with Garrus. More equality for femshep my ass!
Yeah, you can only have a romance with Kaidan (dumb-ass), Garrus (best friend but too freak to date) and 4 girls!! come oooon... they HAVE to fix this PS: Kaidan and Garrus lovers please forgive me, but you were lucky and I was not
Ah that too! I have no issues at all with the inclusion of same-sex romances, but if you Virmire'd Kaidan in ME1 there's no new male romance options for Femshep. I find that very... odd, to say the least!
Let's say it odd... cause I don't want to believe that the Bioware guys are so f***ing horny that they only came up with ideas for girl-girl love scenes... I think it's wonderful that they included those options, but making them the only ones just makes them look really bad
